Marijuana Soft Drinks?!

A California entrepreneur, Clay Butler, has developed a lineup of marijuana soft drinks and they are going to be made available at marijuana dispensaries. California state law permits medical marijuana use and Butler sees it as a goldmine. He is planning on unveiling his full lineup of 6 different drinks which include names such as Grape Ape and Orange Kush. Each bottle would be 12-ounce bottles that'll have 25-65 milligrams of THC and cost between $10 and $15.
The only question that I have with this new pitch is if you will actually get a "high" from the THC. The article link is below if you would like to read it:

Not A Surprise

From the article, there is a chart that says the total number of deaths for certain drugs. Yes marijuana is one of the classifications, and as you go across the row, it is the primary suspect of the death in 0 cases but since 1/1/97-6/30/05 there have only been 279 total deaths reported all due to a secondary suspect. While if you look at the Other Popular Drugs classification, you will see that 8,101 times it was the primary suspect of the death with a total at 8,593.

As you can tell, the total deaths caused by marijuana is nothing compared to the total deaths caused by Other Popular Drugs.

Can You Really Drive While High?

Most of the people that say that they've gotten high before from smoking marijuana say that they just want to sit on the couch and eat because they get the "munchies." If that's true, what's the probability of a person that's high behind the wheel of a car?

Why is Alcohol Legal?

Why is alcohol legal if it does more damage to the brain then marijuana? Doesn't alcohol affect people's behaviors and motor skills?

I do not know the answer to the first question but yes alcohol does affect people's behaviors and motor skills. I have seen the side affects from people driving drunk, while you haven't really heard about someone driving while they are high. If you have then I'd like to read about it and its side effects.

My Views

I believe that marijuana should be legal for anyone to use. I say this because it would cripple the illegal drug trafficking of marijuana. I also feel that if it became legal then not as many people would do it because they get a "rush" from doing it when it is considered illegal right now. This is the same concept with under-aged drinking and why so many young people do it now; because of the "rush" and if they were legal then it wouldn't be seen as "cool."

For example, everyone is 18 and legal to buy cigarettes but how many of us actually do smoke? yet it is worse then alcohol and marijuana and the first thing that becomes legal to us "new" adults.

"They Say"

In my article, "they say" that marijuana users "are more likely than non-users to graduate to harder drugs like cocaine and heroin," but it also states that "you could establish a correlation between espresso and a higher incidence of heroin use."
Yes there is a higher risk to move to "harder" drugs but when you can sell a bushel of pot for $70,000, and it also has the medical benefits to giving people appetites again with AIDS or just pain relief in general to them.

Article Analysis

My article, "SoYouWanna know about the legalization of marijuana?" was informative on both sides of the argument but it did slightly favor legalizing it.

The pitch for the article is that smoking marijuana is not that bad compared to other legal stuff like alcohol and cigarettes.

The complaint is that it's a gateway drug and will bring down job performace

The moment is the California had a recent voting take place to decide whether or not to legalize marijuana

Legal or Illegal?

I will be blogging on whether or not marijuana should be illegal or legal. I bring up this topic because many Americans use this drug and it's a good source of revenue is taxed properly.
