I believe that marijuana should be legal for anyone to use. I say this because it would cripple the illegal drug trafficking of marijuana. I also feel that if it became legal then not as many people would do it because they get a "rush" from doing it when it is considered illegal right now. This is the same concept with under-aged drinking and why so many young people do it now; because of the "rush" and if they were legal then it wouldn't be seen as "cool."
For example, everyone is 18 and legal to buy cigarettes but how many of us actually do smoke? yet it is worse then alcohol and marijuana and the first thing that becomes legal to us "new" adults.
We talked about this last year in my government class in highschool. As a class, we voted to leagalize marijuana. We concluded that if it were legal, less people would be tempted to actually use it. It would also help boost the economy. My class decided that it should be regulated and controled just like alcohol is. I am not saying that I am "pro-marijuana" or anything, but how can that be illegal if the effects of marijuana are equvialent to alcohol if not safer?
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with all the points and arguments you raise. I especially agree with the point of smoking being legal to buy at 18 years old and how many people do we really know that consistently smoke. In my opinion, I believe it should be legalized in order to stop the temptations of kids who do it because it is illegal.
ReplyDeleteI also believe that marijuana should be legal for everyone to use if you are over 18 years old. This would also help the tax revenue and help the economy. It is true that many people smoke marijuana and drink underage because they get that "rush" of, I guess, breaking the law. If they legalized it, the use I believe would increase at first, but then people would get over that because it's very available.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you 100%. Studies show that the use of marijuana in America is higher than the rate in Amsterdam where it is actually legal. This proves your point and explains why we should legalize it. If it is legalized, we could tax the product as well and it would help stimulate our economy and get us out of the trillions of dollars of debt that we are in. There are also studies that have found that smoking marijuana doesn't kill unlike alcohol.
